MCRO Assist Mendip CRO on Operations and with Training
At 1348 on Saturday 9 June Mendip Cave Rescue were called out to assist a 20 year old woman who had fallen whilst exiting the Mushroom Chamber into the Black Cat chamber of the "wild" cave beyond the show cave at Gough's Cave, Cheddar Gorge.
By chance a Midlands CRO member, Tony Rich, was with Mendip Cave Rescue preparing to deliver a specialist training presentation for them that evening. They asked him to help them by acting as the Surface Controller for the incident, which he did.
The casualty had suffered injuries to her lower leg & knee. The team stabilised her injuries and prepared her for evacuation before she was carried by stretcher to a waiting ambulance at the surface. The incident was closed at 1510.
Tony then went on to give his training presentation as planned to around 30 members of Mendip Cave Rescue that evening.
